As Muslims across Nigeria prepare to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim faithful and assured residents of robust security measures to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, the Commissioner ordered all Area Commanders, Tactical Units, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to intensify security operations in their respective jurisdictions. The directive is aimed at preventing any form of criminal activity during the festive period.
According to the statement, CP Dantawaye has mandated comprehensive visibility policing across the state, including increased patrols along highways, around places of worship, residential areas, and key public spaces. He also emphasized the deployment of both uniformed and undercover operatives to detect and neutralize potential threats, especially in known black spots and flashpoints.
“The Command is committed to ensuring a safe environment for all residents and visitors during the Sallah festivities,” the statement read. “We are working in synergy with other security agencies to provide a secure atmosphere where people can celebrate without fear.”
The Commissioner also appealed to the public for cooperation, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or unattended objects to the nearest security post or law enforcement agency.
He concluded by reaffirming the Police Command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property, and wished the Muslim community a joyful and peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
