As Muslims in Gombe State, across Nigeria, and around the world mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Gombe Network of Civil Society Organisations has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the Muslim Ummah.
In a goodwill message signed by its Chairman, Ibrahim Yusuf, GONET described the festival as a sacred season that embodies the enduring values of sacrifice, obedience to divine will, compassion, and unity.
“This period offers us a powerful reminder of our shared humanity and the importance of love, kindness, and solidarity,” the statement said. “We urge all citizens to reflect on these virtues and use the occasion to promote peace, understanding, and generosity in their communities.”
The network called on Nigerians to pray for the nation’s peace, stability, and progress, emphasizing the need for wise leadership and sustained national unity amid prevailing challenges.
GONET also appealed to the public to remember the less privileged during the festivities. “As we celebrate, let us not forget those who are struggling — the poor, the sick, the displaced, and the vulnerable. Sharing with them reinforces the true spirit of Eid,” the statement noted.
The organisation encouraged the people of Gombe State and beyond to go beyond festivities and embrace the season as an opportunity for renewed hope and collective action toward a better society.
“Let this Sallah be more than a celebration — let it be a moment of compassion, giving, and healing for our communities and nation,” Yusuf added.
