In a bid to foster continuous engagement with retired personnel and deepen appreciation for their service, the Nigerian Air Force, through the 109 Combat Reconnaissance Group (CRG) in Gombe, has held a Chief of Air Staff Veterans’ Parley with retired Air Force personnel in the state.

The event, which took place at the CRG headquarters in Gombe, was part of a nationwide initiative by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, to connect with NAF veterans across the country, appreciate their contributions, and update them on current efforts aimed at enhancing their welfare.
In his address, the Commander of the 109 CRG, Group Captain Austine Idoko, described the parley as a significant gesture of inclusion, aimed at recognising the indelible marks made by veterans during their active years in service.
He emphasised that the event presents the opportunity to appreciate veterans for their years of dedication and selfless service to the Nigerian nation and to humanity through their military service, and will continue to afford other serving members the opportunity to gain for their years of experience which they have gathered over the years.

“Today’s event seeks to keep you abreast of the recent development and efforts of the current Nigerian Air Force administration in improving the quality of life of the Nigerian Air Force veterans,” he stated.
Group Captain Idoko expressed deep appreciation to Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar for the foresight in initiating such an impactful program and for providing the necessary support for its implementation across all Air Force commands.
The parley also featured a range of activities tailored to the needs of veterans. These included free medical check-ups, health talks focused on preventive care and aging, as well as lectures on personal security.
A major highlight of the event was the special recognition and celebration of Air Vice Marshal AT Muazu (Rtd), who was honoured for his outstanding service and contributions to the growth and development of the Force.
The event brought together a cross-section of veterans from across Gombe state, many of whom expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Air Force for remembering them and creating a platform for continued camaraderie, support, and dialogue.
