Worried by the proliferation of adulterated and expired products across the country, the Gombe State Government has expressed its willingness to partner with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) to address the trend.
Secretary to Government of Gombe State, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, gave this indication when he received the Gombe State Coordinator of SON, Mohammed Alhaji Bukar, in his office on Tuesday.

Prof. Njodi noted that the safety and health of citizens are paramount, urging the agency to redouble its fight against expired and substandard products for the well-being of the people.
He used the medium to remind citizens of the state to always check the expiry dates on soft drinks, medicines, and other products before consumption. He also stressed the need for SON to intensify its public enlightenment campaigns against unwholesome products, especially by utilizing the state-owned media, the Gombe Media Corporation (GMC).
Earlier, the state coordinator of SON, Mohammed Alhaji Bukar, said they were in the SSG’s office to brief him on the agency’s activities. He disclosed that SON had intercepted fake and expired products during its operations and assured the SSG that the agency would not relent in its quest for a society free of fake and expired goods.
