Prominent legal practitioner and former Director of Strategic Communications of the African Bar Association, Barrister Douglas Ogbankwa, has issued a stern warning to Sandra Palmer Agho, the mother of his client’s child, demanding the immediate withdrawal of what he describes as “false and defamatory” videos circulated against him on social media.
In a letter dated November 25, 2025, addressed to Agho, Ogbankwa demanded a public apology, a formal retraction, and the payment of ₦500 million in damages. He further threatened to institute a ₦1 billion defamation suit should she fail to comply within 21 days of receiving the notice.
Ogbankwa, who is also a writer and policy analyst, said Agho’s videos—posted on Facebook, TikTok, and other platforms—contained damaging allegations that have “gravely injured” his reputation.
The letter stated in part:
> “That these your comments have made me to be viewed with odium and opprobrium in the eyes of right-thinking members of the public.”
He also recalled an incident of alleged assault, writing:
> “That you know that the true state of affairs in this matter is that you assaulted me on the 7th of January, 2023 in front of the Area Commander Benin Metro – ACP (Retired) Angelo Akaro, the I.P.O. – David Igene, and when you were called to report after being granted bail, you ran to the AIG Zone 5, Benin City…”
The lawyer noted that the recent legal action followed a series of videos in which Agho allegedly made “weighty and false allegations” against him and his client, Kelvin Uyi Martins.
The letter further accused Agho of maliciously misrepresenting facts online:
> “That you even did a video, calling our client – Kelvin Uyi Martins – a baby thief, and you put my picture as if I am the father of the child.”
He added that despite enduring the accusations for a long time, he was now compelled to act.
> “I have been greatly patient and I have maintained a studied silence on the matter but talking legally – Enough is Enough. You are hereby given 21 days within which to tender an apology in all the social media platforms and newspapers where you defamed my name and pay me a compensation of the sum of ₦500,000,000.00 (Five Hundred Million Naira). Failure of which I shall proceed to a court of competent jurisdiction to sue for One Billion Naira…”
Reiterating his resolve, Ogbankwa concluded:
> “You have deliberately and systematically tried to de-market my person as a lawyer, working for your cohorts, some whom are my colleagues. I tell you, the wheel of justice moves slowly but surely; whether you are brought to justice or justice is brought to you, justice will be done in this matter. Every impunity has an expiry date. Be guided!”
As of the time of this report, Sandra Palmer Agho had yet to issue any public response to the lawyer’s demands.
