The Nigeria Civil Defence Officers Wives Association (CDOWA), Gombe State Command, has unveiled its official uniform in a colourful ceremony held at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) State Command Headquarters in Gombe.
The occasion, presided over by the State Commandant, CC Jibrin Idris, represented by the Deputy Commandant of Corps and Second-in-Command, DCC Abubakar Y. Muri, was described as a “historic milestone” for the association.
Speaking at the event, Commandant Idris said the launch symbolised unity, identity, and the vital role played by officers’ wives in strengthening the Corps.
“The launch of this uniform is not just a ceremonial gathering, but a testament to the commitment and dedication of our officers’ wives to the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps,” he said.
He added, “Behind every committed and gallant officer is a supportive family, and at the center of that support is the spouse who holds the home together, encourages, and stands with us through the demands of our duty.”
Idris commended CDOWA for introducing the new uniform, describing it as “a symbol of unity, dignity, and shared purpose” that reflects the collective identity and contributions of officers’ wives to the Corps.
Welcoming attendees, the Chairperson of CDOWA, Hajia Hauwa Abdulmumin Muntaz, underscored the association’s milestones and the dedication of its members.
“We gather today not only to close another chapter but to recognize the dedication, passion, and collective efforts that have shaped the year, marked by important accomplishments,” she stated.
Also speaking, the Desk Officer of CDOWA, DSC Dorcas Dogara, expressed appreciation to officers, members, and guests.
“We thank officers and men and all invited guests for joining us in this milestone moment. The launch of this uniform is a symbol of unity and pride for our association, reflecting our shared values and commitment to service,” she said.
The uniform was officially launched with a cash donation of ₦250,000 by Commandant Idris, followed by additional contributions from officers and men, bringing the total to over ₦1 million.
Present at the ceremony were senior officers including DCC Saviour Ibe, Head of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure; DCC Mannir D. Mohd, Head of Training; DCC Murtala Mohd, Head of Operations; and ACC Patric Bassey, 2iC Intelligence and Investigations, among others.
The unveiling of the CDOWA uniform marks a new chapter for the association, reinforcing its message of unity, pride, and steadfast commitment to supporting the NSCDC’s mission.
