The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), through its Senate, has congratulated Comrade Dunijir Gatama on his appointment as Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, describing the decision as timely and politically strategic.

In a press statement issued on Monday and signed by the Director of Security and Liaison, NANS Senate, Comrade Muazu Hina, the student body said the appointment comes at a critical period when effective youth mobilisation and ideological direction are needed to strengthen progressive movements across the country.
According to the statement, Gatama’s emergence reflects his long-standing commitment to student activism and grassroots political organisation.
“This appointment is timely, deliberate, and politically strategic, coming at a critical moment when purposeful youth engagement, ideological direction, and effective grassroots mobilisation are required to consolidate progressive movements across the country,” the statement read.
NANS noted that Gatama has distinguished himself over the years as a fearless advocate for students’ rights and a dependable figure within the youth and political space.
“Comrade Dunijir Gatama has, over the years, demonstrated political maturity, loyalty to progressive ideals, and an exceptional capacity for mass mobilisation,” Hina stated.
“His experience on the streets, on campuses, and within organised youth structures positions him as a valuable asset to the City Boy Movement.”
The association expressed confidence that Gatama’s appointment would strengthen political consciousness among young Nigerians and deepen grassroots participation in nation-building.
“This development reflects a commitment to recognising tested leaders who have paid their dues within the struggle,” the statement added.
NANS further called on students and youths across the country to support the new coordinator in advancing inclusive leadership, political empowerment, and sustainable development.
“We urge students and youth nationwide to rally behind Comrade Dunijir Gatama in order to advance the collective vision of inclusive leadership, political empowerment, and sustainable development,” Hina said.
The statement concluded with NANS congratulating Gatama on what it described as a well-earned appointment, while wishing him a successful and impactful tenure as Coordinator of the City Boy Movement.
