Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Wednesday reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for criminality, declaring that the protection of lives and property remains a non-negotiable priority of his government.
The Governor made this known while hosting the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 12, in charge of Bauchi and Gombe States, AIG Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, at a high-level security meeting in the state
The meeting followed a recent security breach in Pindiga community, Akko Local Government Area, where two persons were reportedly killed and three others abducted by unknown gunmen.
Addressing the situation, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said his administration would continue to deploy all lawful means to ensure peace and stability across the state.
“This government has zero tolerance for criminal activities. The safety of our people and the protection of their property are priorities we will never compromise,” the Governor said.
He stressed the need for strengthened intelligence gathering, increased police visibility, and rapid response to security threats, assuring the Nigeria Police Force of the state government’s continued support.
“We are fully committed to supporting the police and other security agencies with the necessary logistics and cooperation to sustain peace and prevent further breaches,” he added.
In his remarks, AIG Abubakar Aliyu commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for what he described as proactive leadership and consistent support for security agencies in the zone.
“The Governor has demonstrated strong commitment to security, and we appreciate the support extended to the Nigeria Police Force,” the AIG said.
He assured that the police had intensified efforts to track down those responsible for the Pindiga incident.
“We have stepped up our operations to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice. At the same time, we are strengthening preventive measures to forestall future occurrences,” he stated.
AIG Aliyu also pledged improved coordination among security agencies under Zone 12, noting that effective intelligence sharing and community collaboration would be critical to restoring calm.
“Actionable intelligence and the cooperation of communities will play a key role in maintaining peace and security across Gombe and Bauchi States,” he said.
