The Commander, 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmad Mansur Dikko, has received a six-man sensitisation team from Army Headquarters (AHQ) led by the AHQ Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), Army Warrant Officer Sani Yakubu Ibrahim, at the Brigade Headquarters Conference Hall in Ohafia, Abia State.

The visit, which took place on February 4, 2026, was aimed at conducting durbar sessions to identify grey areas and sensitise troops on the “Soldier-First” culture in line with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Command Philosophy, with emphasis on operational effectiveness, efficiency, troop welfare and preparedness to tackle emerging security challenges.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Captain Mazinho Attah, Acting Assistant Director Army 14 Brigade, Army Public Relations, Abia State.
Speaking during the session, Army Warrant Officer Sani Yakubu Ibrahim said the engagement was at the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.
“This visit is in line with the directive of the Chief of Army Staff to sensitise troops on key operational, administrative and logistics issues, while reinforcing the pillars of his Command Philosophy,” he said.
He explained that the durbar sessions were designed to strengthen the operational roles of soldiers and promote professionalism across formations.
“We are here to ensure that every soldier understands his responsibilities, upholds the highest standards of discipline, and embraces the Soldier-First culture as a guiding principle,” he added.
The AHQ RSM noted that the sensitisation covered critical areas including sentry duties, document security, the dangers of arms and ammunition theft, burial procedures, misuse of social media, betting and gambling, cultism, and drug and alcohol abuse.
“We must guard against actions that can compromise our integrity and operational effectiveness. Issues such as social media misuse, gambling, cultism, and substance abuse have no place in the Nigerian Army,” he stressed.
He also emphasised the importance of prioritising soldiers’ welfare, particularly the timely payment of allowances, while counselling troops against involvement in partisan politics.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Ahmad Mansur Dikko commended the AHQ team for their professionalism and dedication.
“I appreciate the Army Headquarters team for this timely sensitisation. It will no doubt strengthen our resolve to maintain discipline, professionalism and operational readiness within the Brigade,” he said.
The Brigade Commander reaffirmed his commitment to improving troops’ welfare in line with the COAS’ Command Philosophy.
“The welfare of our personnel remains a top priority. We will continue to take deliberate steps to improve their wellbeing and create an enabling environment for optimal performance,” he assured.
In a related development, Brigadier General Dikko conducted an assessment visit to the 14 Brigade Medical Reception Station (MRS) to evaluate equipment readiness and service delivery.
During the visit, he was briefed on the state of facilities and equipment, with challenges highlighted to include insufficient capitation and the absence of an ultrasound specialist.
“The health of our personnel and their families is critical to our operational success. We will look into these challenges with a view to improving the standard of services at the Medical Reception Station,” the Commander stated.
Highlights of the visit included sensitisation of troops at the 14 Brigade Training Shed, signing of the visitors’ book, a tour of the Brigade Medical Reception Station, and a group photograph.
