Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has approved the appointment of Professor Muazu Shehu as the new Head of the Civil Service of Gombe State.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Secretary to Government of Gombe, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, following the retirement of the former Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Ahmed Abdullahi, who exited the service after attaining the mandatory 35 years in public service.
According to the statement, “Professor Muazu Shehu’s appointment is in line with the administration’s commitment to strengthening the state’s public service and sustaining ongoing reforms aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery.”
Describing the new appointee as a seasoned public servant and accomplished academic, the Governor said, “Professor Muazu Shehu brings to the office vast administrative experience, technical expertise, and a strong reform-oriented mindset that will further reposition the Gombe State Civil Service for optimal performance.”
Until his new appointment, Professor Shehu served as Permanent Secretary, General Duties, and Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to the Governor, where he was credited with demonstrating professionalism, diligence, and exceptional capacity in policy coordination and strategic administration.
Governor Yahaya urged the new Head of Civil Service to justify the confidence reposed in him by sustaining and deepening ongoing reforms.
“I charge the new Head of Civil Service to sustain and deepen the ongoing reforms in the state’s public service, while promoting professionalism, discipline, and innovation across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs),” the Governor stated.
The Governor also commended the outgoing Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi, for what he described as “meritorious and impactful service to the state,” and wished him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement.
