Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State was agog on Sunday as family members, friends, colleagues, traditional and community leaders, as well as political stakeholders across party lines, gathered at Aya Community to celebrate a worthy son after 35 years of meritorious service to the state and humanity.
The thanksgiving service, organised in honour of Mr Mohammed Dantata Ndus following his retirement from the Gombe State Civil Service as a Permanent Secretary, also provided an opportunity for the people of Kale-Aya community to appreciate his contributions to the development of the area.
Delivering a sermon at the thanksgiving service held at ECWA Church, Aya, the Pastor-in-Charge, Reverend Kaniel Zakka, described Ndus as a worthy ambassador of the Church, Aya community and Kaltungo Chiefdom who dedicated his years in service to helping others.
After the church service, the celebration moved to Kale Primary School where a grand reception was held, attracting dignitaries from within and outside Kaltungo Local Government Area.
Speaker after speaker took turns to pour encomiums on Mr. Ndus for his humility, mentorship, benevolence and commitment to community development.
The speakers, including the Kaltungo Local Government Chairman, Iliya Suleiman; Mai Kaltungo, Engr. Sale Mohammed; Kaltungo APC Chairman, Ayuba Hassan; a representative of the National Polio Plus Coordinator; and the Village Head of Kale-Aya, commended the celebrant for his selfless service to his fatherland.
They encouraged him to continue doing more for humanity now that he has more time following his retirement.
Flanked by his wife, Mrs Comfort Mohammed Ndus, and immediate family members, Mr. Ndus appreciated Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, and everyone who attended the occasion.
The highlight of the event was the formal defection of Mohammed Dantata Ndus to the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he was presented with his membership card by the Kaltungo APC Chairman in the presence of the House Majority Leader, Yerima Ladan, and his colleague representing Kaltungo West Constituency, Gabriel Galadima, among other party faithful.
