A delegation from Youth O’clock has paid a courtesy visit to the Gombe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency (GODMA) to congratulate its Executive Secretary, Pharm. Abubakar Muhammad Hassan, on his appointment and to explore possible areas of collaboration.
During the visit, the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer of Youth O’clock, Maryam Muhammad Khaleed, presented a concept note for a proposed medical outreach programme aimed at improving access to basic healthcare services in communities across Gombe State.
According to her, the outreach will focus on medical screening, treatment and health education, targeting common ailments such as malaria, typhoid, ulcers, diabetes, high and low blood pressure, and abdominal-related disorders.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Comrade Abdulazeez Sani Labaran congratulated Pharm. Hassan on what he described as a well-deserved appointment. He urged the Executive Secretary to discharge his responsibilities with honesty and integrity.
Labaran also commended the governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for the appointment, describing it as a commendable decision. He acknowledged the contributions of Hassan’s family to the healthcare sector in Gombe State and beyond.
Highlighting the activities of Youth O’clock, Labaran said the organisation has been involved in tree planting initiatives, conflict mediation and resolution, capacity-building workshops, advocacy programmes, medical outreaches, peace dialogues, anti-drug abuse campaigns, youth week celebrations, public hearing participation, and media engagements, among others.
In his response, Pharm. Hassan expressed appreciation for the visit and welcomed the proposed partnership. He assured the delegation of GODMA’s willingness to collaborate on initiatives that would enhance healthcare delivery in the state.
He encouraged members of the group to remain committed to community service, noting that serving humanity is a noble responsibility.
