Seven days after the Agbu Kefas of Taraba State and his Benue State counterpart, Hyacinth Alia, met in Taraba over the Chanchanji killings, fresh attacks have reportedly continued in parts of the state.
On Monday, March 9, 2026, suspected armed Fulani militia reportedly ambushed and killed Tiv farmers at Tse-Ukwe community in the Tor-Damsa area of Donga Local Government Area.
A traditional leader in the area, HRH Zaki Ugondu Uma, told our correspondent that the victims, who are internally displaced persons (IDPs), had gone to their farms in search of food before they were attacked by the militia while returning to their camp.
According to the traditional ruler, the attackers fled the scene hours before security operatives arrived.
“The militia ambushed and killed two IDPs who had gone to their farms to look for food. Some of the IDPs are still missing,” he said.
“They carried out the attack and left hours before the military arrived. We call on both the Taraba State Government and the Federal Government to strengthen security in the area. We have also received information that the militia may be planning another attack on the IDP camp,” the traditional leader added.
The Nigeria Police Force in Taraba State, through the Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Mshelizah, also confirmed the attack.
