The Kwah people of Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State have called on Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to take urgent action to halt the ongoing killings in the council.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday in Yola, the Chairman of the Kwah Development Association, Warrant Officer Robinson Zinyi (rtd), said the recent attacks in Kwah and Gyakan by suspected Tsobo militias call for a thorough investigation.
“The most recent and devastating attack occurred in the early hours of April 23, 2026, when armed Tsobo assailants invaded Kwah community, unleashing terror through gunfire and arson. After wreaking havoc there, they advanced into Gyakan, continuing their assault,” he said.
He stated that 24 people were killed during the midnight attack, while dozens remain missing.
“Some of those killed are yet to be buried. Numerous homes were destroyed, and hundreds have been displaced, now left without shelter, food, or medical care.
“Several individuals remain missing and unaccounted for after 24 innocent lives were lost,” he added.
Zinyi called on the government to establish an independent judicial panel to investigate both the immediate and underlying causes of the recurring killings in Lamurde Local Government Area.
He also urged authorities to ensure that those responsible for the attacks are arrested and prosecuted.
“Deploy permanent and effective security personnel to Kwah and Gyakan communities to restore confidence, protect lives and property, and facilitate the safe return of displaced persons,” he said.
Recall that last Thursday at midnight, suspected Tsobo militias invaded Kwah and Gyakan communities, killing dozens of people.
