Engr. Abubakar Musa Bappah has resigned his position as a Board Member of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), citing his intention to pursue the governorship of Gombe State.
His resignation, according to a statement from his campaign communications team, is in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022, which mandate public office holders with political ambitions to step down before contesting elective positions.
In a resignation letter addressed to the relevant authorities, Bappah expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve at the national level, where he contributed to the maintenance and development of road infrastructure across the country.
“I am grateful for the trust reposed in me to serve on the board of FERMA,” he said.
“However, in pursuit of my aspiration to serve the good people of Gombe State at a higher capacity, I have taken the necessary step to resign and fully dedicate myself to this journey.”
He noted that his experience at FERMA provided him with valuable insights into governance, public service, and infrastructure development, which he intends to leverage if elected.
Bappah said his vision for Gombe State is anchored on sustainable infrastructure, economic growth, youth empowerment, and inclusive governance.
He also emphasized his commitment to due process and adherence to electoral guidelines.
“My decision is guided by legal and ethical requirements, as well as my commitment to transparency and accountability,” he added.
He called on the people of Gombe State to support what he described as a movement driven by competence, integrity, and genuine service.
Further details regarding his political plans and campaign activities, the statement added, will be unveiled in due course.
