Residents of Taraba State on Monday decried the official commissioning of the uncompleted 5km Ibi–Nwonyo road.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that Governor Agbu Kefas, on Monday, April 27, 2026, alongside General T.Y. Danjuma, officially commissioned the N3.5 billion road project despite its incomplete state.

Meanwhile, residents alleged that the governor was unnecessarily in a hurry to be recognised among Nigerian governors who have commissioned projects in their states within the last three years.
They described the governor’s action as disgraceful, citing what they termed the significant development recorded by other North-East governors in Adamawa, Gombe, Borno, Bauchi, and Yobe states, as well as neighbouring Benue and Nasarawa states within the same period.
“It is disgraceful to see an uncompleted project being commissioned by Governor Agbu Kefas after being the worst-performing in the history of Taraba,” Audu Titus, one of the residents, posted on his Facebook account.
A community leader in Ibi Local Government Area, Elder Isa Adi, told PERISCOPE NIGERIA that the uncompleted project would soon throw commuters into hardship as the rainy season approaches.
Another resident, Solomon Jedie, stated in a post that after failing to fulfil multiple promises, Governor Kefas had now imposed an impending hardship on residents of Ibi and road users.
They called on Governor Agbu Kefas to remobilise the contractor to complete the project.
“Governor Kefas should remobilise the contractor to complete the project. The commissioning of the 5km Ibi–Nwonyo road project is disgraceful. It poses an impending hardship on residents and commuters.
“The governor does not have any tangible project on the ground, and it is expected that he should prioritise quality whenever he decides to undertake any,” the residents said.
