Former APC National Vice Chairman for the North-East Salihu Mustapha, has praised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as efforts toward improving security and economic development across the country.
Mustapha, made the remarks during separate visits to traditional rulers in Maiha, Hong and Song chiefdoms in Adamawa State.
The APC chieftain said the current administration had created a more conducive atmosphere for peace and socio-economic growth, expressing optimism that both the Federal Government and the Adamawa State Government would continue to deliver democratic dividends to citizens.
He also commended the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for his contributions to restoring relative peace in parts of the North-East, particularly communities in northern Adamawa that were once heavily affected by insurgency.
According to Mustapha, the visits to the traditional institutions were aimed at seeking royal blessings and prayers for his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.
He pledged to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri if elected governor of the state.
Speaking on security, Mustapha promised to prioritise intelligence gathering and provide necessary logistics support to security agencies to tackle insecurity across Adamawa communities.
He further stressed the importance of strengthening collaboration with traditional rulers, noting that cultural institutions remain critical to peacebuilding, youth development and community stability.
“History has shown the importance of traditional institutions in maintaining peace and social order. We must empower them to contribute meaningfully to security and development,” he said.
Mustapha added that government alone could not address all societal challenges, calling for policies that would give traditional rulers more defined roles in governance and conflict resolution.
In his remarks, the campaign coordinator, Yusuf Buba, described Mustapha as a competent and experienced leader, citing his background as a lawyer, former military officer, banker and political analyst.
Buba appealed to party stakeholders and traditional leaders to support the aspiration of the APC governorship hopeful.
The traditional rulers, in their separate responses, assured the aspirant of their prayers and support for his political journey.
Mustapha also met with APC officials in the local government areas visited and assured them of inclusive leadership if elected governor.
