Taraba State governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief David Sabo Kente, has described Governor Agbu Kefas’ three years in office as a waste in the democratic history of the state.

Chief Kente, a renowned philanthropist, lamented on Wednesday in Wukari that despite huge allocations to the state, the governor has allegedly resorted to making false promises and engaging in persistent borrowing without corresponding development.
Chief Kente also warned that the alleged plan to impose candidates on party members under the guise of consensus could tear the Taraba APC apart and possibly lead to defeat in the 2027 elections.
“Governor Kefas’ three years in office are a total waste in the history of democratic rule in Taraba State,” Kente said.
The governorship aspirant decried the persistent borrowing and rising debt profile of the state under Governor Kefas, despite what he described as huge allocations with little or no visible projects to justify them.
“Despite the huge allocations, Governor Kefas has chosen the path of making false promises. More worrisome is the persistent borrowing without projects to convince citizens that the funds are being properly utilized.
“Between 2023 and now, the state’s debt profile has risen to a point that demands urgent democratic action by citizens to save the state from collapse,” he lamented.
Chief Kente further disclosed that the alleged poor performance of Governor Agbu Kefas over the last three years was the reason citizens from across the local government areas purchased the APC governorship nomination form for him to contest and rescue the state.
“Yes, we voted him into office in 2023, but we never believed he would perform this poorly. He has recorded what many consider the worst performance in the history of governance since Taraba State was created,” Kente alleged.
Kente said his decision to join the governorship race was not driven by personal ambition but by a collective desire to rescue Taraba State.
“The pressure from citizens across the state and the subsequent purchase of the nomination form for me, due to Kefas’ poor performance, are the reasons I joined the contest.
“For the sake of the future of our youths, I have come to rescue Taraba from collapse, and I assure citizens that my administration will deliver the desired dividends of democracy, beyond mere promises, if elected governor in 2027,” he assured.
Kente also warned against the imposition of candidates under the guise of consensus, stating that such a move could divide the party.
“I wish to categorically state that the alleged plan to impose candidates on the people in the name of consensus will tear the party apart. Party supporters may align with other political parties, and this could lead to disaster for the APC in the 2027 elections in Taraba State,” Chief Kente warned.
