Proceedings in a defamation suit filed against Jessica Iguodala over the alleged malicious character assassination of Elder Francis Omoruyi Oloton have been adjourned by the Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City.
The case, marked B/167/2026, came up for mention on Monday before Justice E.O. Ahaomoje at High Court No. 4. However, the defendant was absent in court, with her non-appearance attributed to the claimant’s inability to effect service of court processes.
Counsel to the claimant, Samson R. Osagie, Esq., was present and indicated readiness to proceed. He informed the court that all efforts to serve Iguodala had been unsuccessful.
Following the development, Justice Ahaomoje adjourned the matter to June 16, 2026, for mention, granting the claimant additional time to perfect service on the defendant.
Meanwhile, Iguodala is also reportedly facing separate criminal proceedings at the Federal High Court in Benin City. The matter, presided over by Justice Babatunde Quadri, involves multiple charges, with the defendant said to have repeatedly failed to appear in court.
The Federal High Court is scheduled to hear an application on May 6, 2026, seeking the attachment of Iguodala’s properties, a legal step aimed at compelling her appearance to answer to the charges.
The parallel civil and criminal proceedings indicate increasing legal pressure on the defendant, as efforts continue to ensure her appearance in court.
