The Nigeria Police Force on Sunday announced the arrest of four suspects over an alleged theft at the Federal Mortgage Bank office in Gombe and recovered several stolen items.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the suspects were arrested in connection with “a case of criminal conspiracy and theft.”
The suspects were identified as Umar Saidu, 27, of Tudun Wada Quarters, Chukwu Neke Wusage, 48, Sirajo Ismail, 23, and Ibrahim Bashir Kuna, 28.
The police said the incident was reported on May 15, 2026, by a staff member of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, alleging that the prime suspect, Umar Sa’idu, conspired with another suspect identified simply as “Rasha,” who is currently at large, to break into the bank’s office located in GRA, Gombe.
Items allegedly stolen from the office included four solar batteries, one HP laptop, one CCTV decoder, and one Nokia keypad phone.
“Upon receipt of the report, police detectives attached to Pantami Division promptly visited the scene and commenced investigation, which led to the arrest of the above-mentioned suspects,” the statement said.
The command disclosed that detectives recovered four solar batteries, one HP laptop, and one CCTV decoder during the investigation, while efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect and recover the remaining item.
In a separate development, the police also arrested a suspected motorcycle snatcher following an attempted armed robbery along New GRA Road leading to Pen Resource Secondary School in Gombe.
The suspect, identified as Muhammad Bello, 35, of Bolari Quarters, was apprehended by operatives attached to Pantami Division after a distress report.
According to the police, “the patrol team promptly mobilized to the scene and successfully arrested the suspect, Muhammad Bello, while the following exhibits were recovered: one hammer allegedly used in the attack and one Boxer motorcycle.”
The command added that the victim sustained injuries during the attack and was taken to hospital for treatment before later being discharged.
DSP Abdullahi said investigation into both cases was ongoing and that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
The Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, Umar Ahmed Chuso, reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling crime in the state.
“The Command remains unwavering in its commitment to the protection of lives and property and will continue to intensify efforts toward combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents across the state,” the statement added.
