What a sarcastic comment from a supposed president.
“Even before I was born, hunger has been there.” Sir, with due respect, that is not a speech. That is surrender.
Yes, hunger has been with us for decades. Poverty has been with us. Bad roads, bad schools, bad hospitals have been with us. But we did not vote in 2023 so you could remind us of history. We voted for you to change it.
Leadership is not about giving excuses older than your birth certificate. Leadership is about saying: “It was there before me, but it will not be there after me.”
When a president repeats “hunger has always been there,” what he’s really saying is: “Get used to it.”
That’s dangerous. Because if the man at the top has accepted hunger as normal, who will fight it?
Nigerians are not asking for magic. We are asking for work. Cut waste. Fix power. Support farmers. Make food affordable.
History will not remember what hunger did before 1952. History will remember what you did about it between 2023 and 2027.
Mr. President, the job is not to explain hunger. The job is to end it.
