Life is repeating itself.
Winston Churchill put it as thus, “those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”
“Forgetting old errors makes repeating them certain.” – George Santayana
In Edo 2024, Asue Ighodalo was the victim and Gov. Obaseki was the target. The fight wasn’t really about Asue. It was about who controls Edo’s treasury, structure, and 2027 calculations.
Now in Osun 2026, the script looks familiar.
Tinubu has a personal interest in pocketing Osun. Not because Osun is broke, but because Osun is strategic. Southwest. PDP stronghold. Adeleke’s family brand. And 2027 is already loading.
So the question is: Who is going to be the victim and who will be the target in Osun 2026?
Will they pick a “new Asue” to run against, while the real target is Gov. Adeleke? Will federal might, allocation pressure, and party defections be used to soften the ground? Will the election be about PVCs, or about Abuja’s handshake?
The people of Osun should be watching closely. Because when the presidency declares a personal interest in a state, it stops being about governance and starts being about conquest.
Osun people deserve light, jobs, and working schools. Not to be used as a chess piece in a 2027 war.
Edo 2024 taught us: the candidate is just the face. The target is always the sitting power.
Osun 2026, don’t let them turn your votes into someone else’s war trophy.
