Apostle Paul wrote it in the first century, “the mystery of lawlessness is already at work” 2 Thess 2:7. That was about 2000 years ago.

If lawlessness was “already being revealed” then, what do we call what we see now?

Paul was not predicting a single villain with horns. He was describing a spirit, a system where truth is traded for power, where institutions are corrupted, and where people love lies more than reality. A spirit that puts self above God and above neighbor.

Two thousand years later, that spirit has put on a suit and entered our parliaments, our altars, our courts.

We have men who sign petitions and break them the next day. Leaders who preach holiness on Sunday and practice compromise on Monday. Systems that reward the bully, protect the thief, and crucify the whistleblower.

The “man of lawlessness” is not just one future antichrist. It is any age, any nation, any church where lawlessness is normalized and called “wisdom.”

Paul’s warning was urgent then because decay starts small. If it was a mystery in the first century, it is now a public broadcast in the 21st.

The question is not “when will he be revealed?” The question is: in our time, who is resisting him, and who is seating him?
