The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Taraba State University, Jalingo Branch, has expressed disappointment with Governor Agbu Kefas over the failure of his administration to implement the Federal Government/SSANU Consolidated Non-Teaching Tools Allowance (CONTTA), despite a series of committee meetings and promises.
The union, in a communiqué issued at the end of its emergency congress meeting held on Thursday and signed by its Chairperson, Comrade Bitrus Joseph Ajibauka, and Secretary, Comrade Offen Stephen Noseh, lamented that it had exercised considerable patience without any positive response from the Taraba State Government.
Describing the delay as unacceptable, the union accused the state government of failing to honour the agreement and gave it a 14-day ultimatum to implement the allowance or face an indefinite strike.
The communiqué read, “This is totally and comprehensively unacceptable. We are disappointed in Governor Agbu Kefas and the Taraba State Government for failing to implement the Consolidated Non-Teaching Tools Allowance (CONTTA), an agreement between the Federal Government and SSANU, after a series of committee meetings and promises.
“We hereby give the Taraba State Government a 14-day ultimatum from the date of this communiqué to implement the agreement as has been done in other state universities.
“These agreements have been implemented in state universities such as Adamawa State University, Mubi; Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi; Gombe State University, Gombe; Nasarawa State University, Keffi; Kwara State University, Malete; Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti; and Osun State University, Osogbo, to avert a total, comprehensive and indefinite strike action.”
The communiqué further stated that the emergency congress, held on November 5, 2026, carefully reviewed the union’s struggle for the implementation of the agreement between the Federal Government and SSANU on the Consolidated Non-Teaching Tools Allowance.
It added that the union had exhausted its patience following repeated engagements with the state government without a positive outcome.
The union warned that failure to implement the allowance within the 14-day ultimatum could trigger a total and indefinite strike across the university.
