Niger govt mourns the passing of ‘Masses’ lawyer
The Niger State government on Thursday, announced the passing of one of Nigeria’s foremost legal minds, philanthropist and champion of the masses, Barr. Aliyu Datti, (Magayakin Minna).
A statement issued by the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Idris, which was made available to our correspondent by Abubakar Adamu Kuta, Information Officer, Ministry of Information & Strategy, indicated that Late Barr. Datti had battled with ill health for quite some time.
He stated that, Barr. Datti had devoted the greater part of his life in rendering free legal services to the masses as well as contributed towards the development of the state and the country at large.
According to the commissioner, the state government profoundly regrets the death of this National icon, this masses lawyer, whom despite privileges and opportunity in life still kept touch with the common man, stressing that, he remained consistent and detested corruption till the end.
The statement added that the state government wishes to express its most profound condolences to the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago, the people of Minna emirate, the entire family of the deceased and indeed all Nigerlites over this tragic loss and pray that the Almighty God in His infinite mercy will grant Late Barr. Datti pardon and Jannatul Firdausi.
Late Barr. Aliyu Datti was until his death, Magayakin Minna and Federal Commissioner National Population Commission representing Niger state and Federal Capital Territory.
