Court Affirms Shinga’s cabinet as Gombe CAN chair
Gombe State High Court five presided by Justice Haruna Kereng, on Thursday, reaffirmed the election of Rev. Fr. Joseph Shinga and his executive members.
Recall that on the 14th December, 2021 the national executive of Christian Association of Nigeria monitored the election that produced Shinga’s executive.
The court was approached by Bishop Simeon Ehpron Yaldins and Reverend Joshua Bigla Kwaya, faction seeking an order to stop Shinga and others from being inaugurated as leaders of CAN in the state.
In his judgement to the case which has lingered for over seven months, Kereng adjudged Shinga as duly elected for his position as Chairman of Gombe State chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria.

Our correspondent reports that Shinga won with 56 votes out of 68 eligible voters in the 14th December, 2021.
Reacting to the judgement of the court, Shinga lauded the support of members, adding that no victor no vanquish, he said, “I wish to appreciate the Christian community for their faith and resilient support for us as CAN leaders in Gombe State. I emerged as Chairman together with other executive members in the December 14, 2021, election conducted by CAN national.
“However, some christians felt the election was fraudulent and unacceptable they went to the court of law to challenge the election after several weeks, months of court processes the court upheld our election.”
While calling on the aggrieved persons to team up with his administration to strengthen the church, stressing that members of the Association should get their Permanent Voters Card in readiness for 2023 election.
“I call on all christians, this is victory for Christ, this is victory for the church not for me not for the executive members. No bitterness forgiveness of sins granted. I call on all together, the aggrieved, those who felt we shouldn’t be leaders. Let out hands together to build the community community especially now that we are approaching election. Let us get our PVC to vote enmasse leaders that we feel, will live and stand for us,” Shinga added.
Debunking insinuations that his Executive was preferred by the Gombe State Government, Shinga described it as untrue, adding that government is disposed to any legitimate executive.
He said, “It is a perception which I don’t accept, ordinarily government should work with whosoever that emerges.“

Congratulation to Rev. Shinga and Gombe CAN. I have a word of advice for CAN. Our leaders in CAN should read I Cor. 6:1-7, when next they have an issue of similar magnitude they can settle it out of court.
May the Lord give you more grace to serve his flock effectively at a time like this.
Victory for all christian in Gombe.
Let shield our swords and embrace the olive branch, for we are one in Christ.
Jesus preyer is that they may be one as we are one.
