ICT: Galaxy Backbone to partner Gombe in tackling crimes
Group Head, Galaxy Backbone, Regional Office, Abdulmalik Sulaiman, has indicated the resolve of the organisation to support the Gombe State Government curb crime using technology.
Sulaiman made this disclosure in an interview with journalists during the just concluded maiden Gombe Investment Summit.

Galaxy backbone is a fully owned Federal Government enterprise which provides Information and Communication Technology to both private and public establishments.
It operation include; connectivity, provision of data centre service.
Our Correspondent reports that the theme of the three-day summit is “Industrialisation; pathway to Innovation, Transformation and Development of Gombe State”.
According to Sulaiman, 4G transmission is part of what the organisation would ensure when it opens it Gombe office in October, adding that it would also serve as North-East headquarters for Galaxy Backbone.
He noted that aside enhancing ICT operations in the state, it would be a catalyst to maintaining the peaceful co-existence witnessed in Gombe.
He said, “As you know Gombe doesn’t have the required connectivity and ICT penetration what Galaxybackone is offering by the grace of God if we commence our services from 25th of October, God willing Gombe will have additional 4G transmission capacity.
“As you know the metro fibre we are also deploying will link to other areas of Gombe. We are working with the State Government to ensure Gombe is among the few states developing it safe city capacity.
“We are working with the state government to complement this effort by adding ICT facilities in such a way that technology can continue to be used to curb criminality in Gombe State. The safe city project is on God willing before the end of the year we should be able to complete it.”
Sulaiman stressed that ICT would also be brought closer to the people, following the siting of the the organisation’s regional office in Gombe.
‘’The whole data emanating from the region can be resident in Gombe thereby bringing ICT closer to the people, software developers would have the data centre closer to them and they can showcase their services.”
While lauding government for the investment drive, Sulaiman noted that the summit would give access to investors.
“I can see a lot of opportunities coming to the state in terms of investment, there is the need to have more of technology to aid investments.
“If you look at ease of doing business index, Gombe is on top, in terms of security, it is the most secured in North-East and is at the centre of the region,” Sulaiman added.
