Pictorial: Anambra Boys Emerge Winners of Igbo Tournament in Gombe
The Football Tournament staged by the Igbo Youth Movement for residents in Gombe State finished successfully with Anambra Boys emerging as winners.

The Tournament which span through six months culminated in a grand finale on Sunday at Pantami Township Stadium, Gombe where teeming supporters, the South East residents in the state witnessed the keenly contested trophy.

The State Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, who presented the Trophy to the winners of the competition said the win is for entire South-East, Gombe State and Nigeria.
The Deputy Governor commended the organisers of the Tournament for providing opportunity to the youths to harness their potential in sports as well as contribute in cementing relationship amongst the diverse interest groups involved.

He appreciated the display of sportsmanship exhibited amongst the players and urged officials of the clubs to be exemplary to the players and avoid situations that could destabilise the purpose of organising the sports.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to support the youths by providing them with more opportunities for them to contribute their own quota to development.

Jatau also re-echoed the commitment of the Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya led administration to foster unity amongst the different ethnic groups in the state, and to support them to contribute immensely to the socio-economic development of the state.
The Football Tournament was sponsored by the well to do Igbo people resident in the state to encourage the Spirit of unity amongst the Igbos, and to contribute to the peaceful co-existence of the state and Nigeria.
Those in attendance include; the Commissioner of Youths Alh. Abubakar Aminu, Commissioner of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Alh. Nasiru Aliyu Mohammed and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Intercommunity Relations Chidebulu Ewuzie, amongst others.
