Special Adviser to Gombe Gov Caleb Ubale, emerges Boys’ Brigade State President
The Special Adviser to the Governor of Gombe State on Legal Matters, Barr. Caleb Ubale, was on Sunday sworn in as President, Gombe State Council of the Boys’ Brigade of Nigeria.

The Investiture into office alongside the other state Council Members was performed at the ECWA Goodnews Church GRA, Gombe by the National President of the Boys Brigade of Nigeria Prof. Samson Duna, in the presence of the State Grand Patron, and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
In a goodwill message shortly before the Investiture the Governor called on the President, Gombe State Council and other members of the council to consider their ascension to leadership as an opportunity to sacrifice a lot for God and humanity.
Represented by his Deputy, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, the Governor appreciated the role of the church with particular reference to the activities of the Boys Brigade in building discipline, morality and self reliance amongst the youth towards making them agents of positive change in the society.

He said, “In Gombe State, we have enjoyed so many things because of the power of prayers. We have understood the importance of prayers by all faithfuls the Muslim and the Christians alike, that is why we support them in praying for the peace, unity and progress of the state and the nation.”
The Deputy Governor urged the leadership of the Boys Brigade to continue to encourage the youth grow in the way of God so as that there shall be a reduction of the vices and attendant socio-economic hardship being faced by the society.

Quoting the scripture, the Deputy Governor stressed that, the times are perilous as described by Paul and the Church should play the positive role of changing the tide through prayers and engaging the Boys Brigade.
The Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Father Joseph Alphonsus Shinga, congratulated the new BB officials, praying God to help them in the course of their assignment.
He seized the opportunity to call on the church to pray for peace, unity and progress of Gombe State and Nigeria, especially for the forthcoming general elections that it shall be successful.
The National President, Boys Brigade of Nigeria, Prof. Samson Duna expressed delight that he is the first President from Gombe State and this was his first official assignment after taking over office.
He appreciated the contributions of the Boys Brigade all over the world and stressed the need for people to support them in view of the positive role they play in advancing the course of God and humanity.
He however expressed dismay that, Gombe State is lagging behind in terms of structural developments urging the well to do to come to their aid.
He charged the christians,especially the youth to participate fully in the forthcoming general elections by coming out to exercise their constitutional rights of electing people of their choice, pointing out that gone are the days when people pray and expect God to give them good leaders.
The sermon was delivered by Evangelist Mark Mijinyawa of Word Alive Kingdom Community and member of Gospel Centre, Billiri.
He stressed the need for Christians to be rooted in the word of God which is the basis for sustainable freedom for believers.
He admonished the Church to be alert of spiritual deception that is released into the world, pointing out that, the amount of knowledge one has, determined the level of freedom from being deceived.
Taking his text from Mathew 24: Luke 19;13, the Evangelist charges the congregation on the need to occupy, using the potentials deposited in them and avoid being complacent but proactive to allow the will of God be done on earth.
He decried a lot of negative things happening in the Church, and called on couples to maintain their god-given responsibilities in the family, warning the children to be respectful to their parents and learn to be self reliant for God to be happy with the families.
The Deputy Governor was in company of the member, representing Balanga-Billiri Federal Constituency Hon. Victor Mela Danzariya, and Gombe State Commissioner of Education, Hon. Dauda Batari Maaji Zambuk and the events featured songs of praises to God.
