ABIA IS SUFFERING DOUBLE JEOPARDY; SUPPORT ALEX OTTI BECAUSE HE IS THE BEST MAN FOR THE JOB- UMEH KALU
Abia’s longest serving former Attorney General, Chief Umeh Kalu, SAN has called on Abians and Nigerians to throw their weight behind the duo of the Labour Party governorship candidate in Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti, and the Presidential candidate of the party, Mr. Peter Obi, describing them as the best in the forthcoming governorship and presidential elections in Abia and and Nigeria respectively.
Chief Kalu who is the Abia State Coordinator of of the Obi-Datti Presodential Campaign Council made the call while welcoming members to an elaborate meeting of the state Presidential Campaign Council meeting held at his Country Home, Okagwe Ohafia, in Ohafia LGA of Abia state.
He disclosed that the essence of the meeting was to co-opt some new members into the Campaign Council as a way of strengthening the Campaign for the challenges ahead, insisting that the tragedy of leadership facing the nation makes the Peter Obi candidacy a topmost priority for the nation and enjoined the Campaign Council members to penetrate every nook and cranny of the state to galvanise support for Obi, Otti and all Labour Party candidates.
The revered Legal Luminary insisted that ex bank chief and the party’s governorship candidate in Abia, Dr. Alex Otti is by far ahead of all the other candidates taking part in the election, and called on all Labour party members and supporters to market him with pride and confidence, because he is a beautiful brand that is easy to sell.
He recalled with regrets how the PDP and Abia state government which he was part of dreaded Otti and went to the extreme to stop him from becoming governor in the past, but disclosed that his decision to distance himself from the PDP and Abia state government and align with Otti and Labour Party this time around was because of his understanding of the doom staring the present generation of Abia youths, including his own children in the face if the circle of mediocre leadership which Abia has been known for is sustained.
Chief Kalu explained that Abia people have been suffering what he described as “Double Jeopardy” because neither the APC led federal government nor Abia state government has performed well, leaving the people to suffer untold hardships arising from poor governance, and therefore called on Abians to rally round Alex Otti, who according to him has proven his mettle through his illustrious career in the banking Industry and his doggedness and consistency in trying to redeem the state.
The state Presidential Campaign Coordinator later invited the governorship candidate of the party, Dr. Otti to unveil a Hummer Bus donated to the state Campaign Council.
The meeting was attended by several Candidates of the party, Stakeholders, leaders and members of different pro groups who are members of the Presidential Campaign Council etc.
