The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Gombe branch has expressed sympathy with the families of the Billiri Easter rally truck incident victims.
The branch made this known in a statement following its congress meeting on April 22, 2025.
“We sympathise with the families of those who lost their loved ones in the Billiri Easter rally truck incident and call on the state government and security agencies to take a definite stand against the incessant killings of innocent citizens by careless and negligent drivers,” said Barrister Benjamin Sati, Chairman of the NBA Gombe branch.
The NBA also demanded adequate compensation for the families of deceased victims and proper medical attention for the injured.

“The government should ensure adequate compensation for the families of deceased victims and proper medical attention for the injured,” Sati added.
Furthermore, the branch resolved to constitute a committee to review traffic laws and address the Federal Road Safety Corps’ vehicle towing and fining practices.

They also petitioned the President of the Court of Appeal to retain the Gombe Division and demanded increased funding for the State’s judiciary, threatening to boycott court sittings if demands aren’t met.

“We shall boycott sittings of the State’s High Court, the Shariah Court of Appeal, and other courts from May 1st to 10th, 2025, if the government fails to accede to our demand for adequate allocation to the judiciary,” Sati warned.
