Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has announced the nomination of the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
The governor made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday, describing the choice as a reaffirmation of his administration’s commitment to inclusion, justice, fairness, equity and peaceful coexistence in the state.
According to Sani, the nomination goes beyond selecting a deputy governorship candidate, saying it reflects the values that have guided his administration since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
He said Kaduna’s ethnic, religious and cultural diversity remains one of its greatest strengths, stressing that the state has learnt valuable lessons from past divisions and must continue to embrace dialogue, inclusion and justice to sustain peace and development.
The governor stated that his administration had, over the past three years, prioritised equitable distribution of democratic dividends across the state’s 23 local government areas through investments in roads, education, healthcare, water supply, agriculture, rural development and social protection.
He added that the government had also worked with traditional rulers, religious leaders, community organisations, women and youth groups to strengthen peace-building efforts, noting that improved security had enabled farmers to return to their farms, businesses to expand and investor confidence to grow.
Speaking on his choice of running mate, Sani described Adams as an accomplished public servant, tax administrator and institution builder whose leadership transformed the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service into one of Nigeria’s leading revenue agencies.
He credited Adams with improving the state’s fiscal capacity through innovation, transparency and professionalism, saying the increased revenue had supported government investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture and other critical sectors.
The governor further described Adams as a man of integrity, humility and competence, adding that his emergence underscores the administration’s commitment to merit, character and inclusive governance.
Sani urged residents to view the nomination as a step towards building a united Kaduna rather than through the lenses of religion, ethnicity or geography.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to consolidating the gains recorded in peace, security, justice and development, expressing optimism that Kaduna would become more united, prosperous and inclusive for future generations.
