Fire guts Gombe Correspondents’ chapel office, Gov Yahaya sympathises with members
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has sympathised with Correspondents’chapel over fire incidence at its office located opposite the Custodial Centre.

Represented by the Secretary to the Gombe State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, the governor lamented the loss of property at the Association’s office.

Our correspondent reports that the fire incident which started on Sunday also affected the store house of the State Library Board destroying printed materials in the process.

Yahaya who described the incident as an act of God maintained that the State Government was deeply saddened on receiving the news of the fire incident.
He said, “the State Government through the Ministry of Information will look into the possibility of relocating the office to give members of the correspondents’ chapel a conducive environment to function.”
Responding the chairperson of the chapel Hajara Leman lauded the governor’s visit, adding that members were encouraged by the Government’s show of concern.

She disclosed that the State office of the correspondents’ chapel lost some valuable assets to the fire incident.
The SSG was accompanied on the visit by the Commissioner overseeing the Ministry of Information Meshack Audu Lauco, Permanent Secretary SSG’s Mohammed Umar the Director General
Press Affairs to Governor Inuwa Yahaya Ismaila Uba Misilli, and other senior Principals in the office of the SSG.

In another development, the Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Njodi has received the newly posted controller of Immigration Service to the State, Alhaji Ado Sabo Rano in his office on a familiarisation visit.
The SSG who received the State controller on behalf of Governor Yahaya, assured of Government collaboration and continued support to the Immigration Service as well as other Federal agencies in the state.
Rano was deployed following the demise of the immediate past controller.
He also appreciated the State Government for the cordial working relationship already existing between the state and the service appealing for more of such support.
He pledged to work in harmony with present administration in the State while discharging his responsibilities as the new man in charge of the immigration service in the state.
